Commercial Module

Smart Navigation

Navigation first — with a full voyage and bridge simulator inside.

Smart Navigation is the platform's navigation command center, combining AI-powered passage planning and route optimization with a high-fidelity simulation engine — so every voyage can be planned, tested, and rehearsed before a vessel leaves port. By ingesting real-time oceanographic data — wave height, current vectors, wind forecasts, and ice boundary projections — alongside vessel-specific hydrodynamic models, the routing engine computes optimal passages that reduce fuel consumption by 8-15% compared to traditional great-circle planning. Routes are scored not just on fuel cost and transit time, but on their emissions impact relative to CII targets, EU ETS exposure based on port-pair geography, and FuelEU Maritime GHG intensity contributions — ensuring every voyage decision aligns with both commercial and compliance objectives. Simulation is built in, not bolted on. The voyage simulator models any voyage, route, and scenario with configurable speed profiles, fuel types, departure windows, and weather assumptions, producing granular predictions for fuel, time, emissions, and cost in minutes. Bridge simulation lets deck officers rehearse approaches, traffic scenarios, and contingency maneuvers in a realistic virtual environment, while structured navigation training scenarios — delivered together with Smart Training — turn the same simulation engine into a continuous competency-building tool. Smart Navigation also supports just-in-time arrival planning, coordinating with port congestion data and berth availability signals to optimize approach speeds and eliminate unnecessary waiting at anchor.

Route Optimizations

Key Capabilities

Passage Planning & Route Optimization

Simultaneously optimizes for fuel consumption, transit time, emissions, weather safety, and schedule reliability using advanced genetic algorithms. The engine evaluates thousands of route-speed combinations in seconds, presenting navigators with a ranked set of optimal passages along with clear trade-off visualizations for each option.

Real-Time Weather Integration

Ingests high-resolution weather forecast data from ECMWF, GFS, and commercial providers, updating route recommendations as conditions evolve. The platform models vessel-specific seakeeping characteristics to assess the impact of wave, wind, and current conditions on fuel consumption, speed loss, and structural loading for each candidate route.

Voyage Simulation

Simulate any voyage, route, and scenario before departure — configurable speed profiles, routing alternatives, fuel types, departure times, and weather assumptions. The engine produces granular daily breakdowns of fuel consumption, emissions, and costs, with sensitivity analysis showing how each parameter moves the bottom line. Run hundreds of scenarios in minutes.

Bridge Simulation

A realistic virtual bridge environment where deck officers rehearse port approaches, heavy-traffic transits, restricted-visibility passages, and contingency maneuvers using the same vessel models that power voyage planning. Scenarios can replay historical situations or test planned passages under adverse conditions before they are sailed.

Navigation Training Scenarios

Structured training scenarios built on the simulation engine — from routine watchkeeping and COLREG decision-making to emergency response drills. Scenario outcomes feed competency records in Smart Training, turning every simulator session into documented professional development for bridge teams.

Just-In-Time Arrival Planning

Coordinates with port congestion data, berth scheduling systems, and tide tables to optimize approach speeds for arrival exactly when berths are available. Just-in-time arrivals eliminate unnecessary waiting at anchorage, reducing fuel waste, emissions, and port congestion while maintaining schedule commitments.

How It Works

1

Plan the Passage

Enter the origin, destination, cargo requirements, preferred ETA window, and any regulatory constraints. The platform pulls vessel-specific performance curves, current weather forecasts, and port congestion data, then generates a ranked set of optimized route options with fuel, time, emissions, and cost estimates for each.

2

Simulate Before You Sail

Test the chosen passage in the voyage simulator — vary speed profiles, departure times, fuel types, and weather assumptions to see how outcomes shift. Bridge teams can rehearse the critical legs of the passage in the bridge simulator before departure.

3

Monitor & Adapt En Route

Once underway, the platform continuously re-evaluates the route against evolving weather forecasts and schedule changes. If conditions shift significantly, the system recommends course or speed adjustments and quantifies their impact on fuel, time, and compliance metrics.

4

Learn & Train Continuously

After voyage completion, planned-versus-actual analysis identifies the sources of any deviations and feeds them back into the routing and simulation models. Notable situations become new training scenarios, closing the loop between operations and competency development.
